Welcome Speech of President AOSNR

Distinguished colleagues, esteemed guests, and dear friends,

It is both an honor and a privilege to address you today. I am Dr. Nirmal Surya, President of the Asian Oceanian Society of Neurorehabilitation (AOSNR) and Secretary of the Global Federation of Neurorehabilitation (WFNR). On behalf of AOSNR, I am delighted to extend to you all a warm welcome to the 6th Asian Oceanian Congress of Neurorehabilitation (AOCNR) 2025, to be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

This prestigious Congress is being organized under the leadership of Dr. Rumaisah Hassan, Chairperson of the Congress, in collaboration with the Indonesian Society of Neurorehabilitation. Scheduled from September 3rd to 7th, 2025, the Congress promises to offer an exceptional scientific program and a vibrant platform for academic exchange.

We anticipate an engaging program comprising over 15 specialized workshops, 32 symposia, and five plenary lectures, alongside a wide range of dedicated scientific sessions. We are greatly honored by the participation of eminent speakers, including Professor Volker Hömberg, President of the World Federation for NeuroRehabilitation (WFNR), and Professor Gerard Francisco, President of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM), both of whom will deliver keynote orations. In addition, the President and President-Elect of AOSNR will address the gathering.

The abstract submission portal is now open, and the deadline for submissions is July 15, 2025. I strongly encourage researchers, clinicians, and practitioners across all stages of their careers to contribute and actively participate in this landmark event.

The scientific deliberations will cover not only core aspects of neurorehabilitation but also emerging innovations in the field, including robotic rehabilitation, neuromodulation techniques, advanced pain management strategies, nerve blocks, spasticity interventions, and botulinum toxin therapies.

Beyond the academic program, participants will have the opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage and renowned hospitality of Indonesia, set against the stunning backdrop of Yogyakarta.

I sincerely invite all member societies, neurorehabilitation professionals, researchers, and students from across Asia and Oceania to join us in large numbers. Let us together foster the advancement of neurorehabilitation in the region through collaboration, innovation, and shared expertise.

Please save the dates, September 3rd–7th, 2025, and do not miss the opportunity to submit your abstracts before July 15, 2025.
